<Abstract>

This paper presents a new free-running-oscillation resonant dc/dc converter with class E oscillator, along with its design procedure and experimental results. Resonant dc/dc converter with class E oscillator is composed of class E oscillator and class E rectifier. This circuit is a free-running-oscillation system and has no gate-drive circuit to drive the MOSFET. The proposed converter has ability to achieve high power conversion efficiency under high frequency operation because of class E switching at both oscillator and rectifier. We carry out two circuit experiments. One experimental measured power conversion efficiency is 78.9% under 1.55W output power at an operating frequency 2.00MHz, the other is 80.0% under 1.62W output power at an operating frequency 1.98MHz.
