<Abstract>

This paper presents analytical expression of end-to-end throughput and delay for wireless multi-hop networks taking into account data rate. The relationship between transmission and carrier-sensing ranges changes as the data rate if all nodes communicate under the same transmission power. By expressing the relationship between the transmission and carrier-sensing ranges with respect to each node, the end-to-end throughput and delay for any data rates are obtained. From the discussions in this paper, we points out that the dominant factor of bottleneck in the multi-hop networks is the carrier-sensing mechanism. The validities of the analytical expressions in this paper are confirmed from quantitative agreements between analytical and simulation results.
