Guaranteed Network Resource Provision with Micropayment
The demand for good network resources will become increasingly important in the eras of 5G and Beyond5G with various Quality of Service (QoS) restricted applications. However, due to the high price of 5G services, the users may want to only pay for resources they actually use. Motivated by that, this paper proposes a system that uses cryptocurrency payment for guaranteed network resources, such as latency or bandwidth provisions. The system leverages Software-Defined Networking (SDN) to realize the provision of QoS guarantee resources. Moreover, IOTA is utilized as a cryptocurrency and distributed ledger for payment. We implement and evaluate the system in a Wi-Fi scenario using mininet-wifi, IOTA clients, and an SDN controller. The evaluation results show that, with IOTA payments, the system can achieve the guaranteed delay and bandwidth provision per user requests. |
