<Abstract>

This paper proposes the phase-controlled class-D inverter with clamp diodes. In the proposed inverter, one of the resonant inductance is divided into two components and clamp diodes are added to the middle point of the divided inductance. By adding the clamp diodes, over currents can be suppressed effectively. Additionally, this paper gives an example of design procedure for ensuring the ZVS operation in the full-range load variations. The effectiveness of the proposed inverter can be confirmed from the transient responses of the experimental waveforms against sudden load variations. The steady-state experimental waveforms agreed with numerical predictions quantitatively, which denotes the validity and credibility of the design procedure.
