Experimental evaluations of thinned-out and PDM controlled class-D rectifier
This paper presents a design of the closed-loop thinned-out and Pulse Density Modulation (PDM) control circuit with the class-D rectifier which is driven by a high frequency AC current source. Both thinned out control and PDM control are realized by the same control circuit. The output voltage can be regulated by changing the thinned-out ratio. For evaluating the proposed class-D rectifier, a DC-DC converter with the class-DE inverter and the proposed class-D rectifier is designed and implemented. The response time for load variation was investigated in the experiments. Additionally, it was seen from the power spectrum of the switch voltages that output-filter volume of the thinned-out method can be reduced compared with that of PDM control. The experimental result showed that both the thinned-out and PDM controls are operated effectively in the proposed class-D rectifier. |
