<Abstract>

This paper proposes a route-construction method for achieving low delay and energy efficient wireless sensor networks. The proposed method applies Watts and Strogatz (WS) model based small world network to wireless sensor networks. The proposed method generates shortcuts by exchanging link in consideration of distance between nodes. Additionally, hub nodes, which has many links, are changed to another node for load balancing when the remaining battery powers of hub nodes are low. Because the proposed method can change hub nodes with maintaining the total number of degrees, the proposed method can achieve low delay without degrading the network lifetime. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed method.
