<Abstract>

Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) is gaining more and more popular with various use cases and adoptions. The protocol enables the concurrent transmissions over diverse paths of TCP traffic for the reliability and throughput enhancement. Each pathfs traffic flow is precisely a single path TCP flow, which is inherently needed the initialization (i.e., TCP three-way handshake). In this research, we investigate the initialization of MPTCP, which is the essential mechanism for multiple flow setups. We point out the problems in the state-of-the- art one, which is so-called the sequential initialization. We then present a solution to the problems by parallelizing the MPTCP initialization.
