<Abstract>

This talk presents our recent researches on two networking technologies, which are necessary for smart cities. The first is a cost- and performance- efficient technology named Software Defined Networking (SDN) , which not only enhances the performance but also evolves on a large- scale infrastructure. The second one is the Multipath Transmission Control Protocol (MPTCP) technology, which enables the concurrent transmissions over multiple networking paths for the sake of efficiency enhancement. Several MPTCP use cases in 5G-like scenarios will be introduced.
