<Abstract>

Blockchain technology has been utilized in many realms, which are exchanging value with transactions and recording transactions with blocks. In a blockchain application, the average time of generating a block is limited by difficulty in the so-called proof of work algorithm, and the transmission time relates to the method of propagation. Ethereum, which is one of the most popular blockchains, propagates the newly generated blocks in a specific workflow. In our measurement, we first defined the network oriented latency and transaction oriented latency. We then measured the latency values and associated throughput on a private Ethereum blockchain.
